Stabilizing oxygen by high‐valance element doping for high‐performance Li‐rich layered oxides

نویسندگان

چکیده

Lithium-rich layered oxides (LLOs) with high energy density and low cost are regarded as promising candidates for the next-generation cathode materials lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, there still some drawbacks of LLOs such oxygen instability irreversible structure reconstruction, which seriously limit their electrochemical performance practical applications. Herein, high-valence Ta doping is proposed to adjust electronic structures transition metals, form strong Ta-O bonds reduce covalency Ni-O bonds, thereby stabilizing lattice enhancing structural/thermal stabilities during cycling. As a result, optimized Ta-doped LLO can deliver capacity retention 80% voltage decay 0.34 mV cycle−1 after 650 cycles at 1C. This study enriches fundamental understanding adjustment contributes optimization high-energy LIBs.

Photoemission for layered oxides

The study of electronic structure of complex systems has been intensely prompted since the cuprate has been considered as potential breakthrough in high Tc superconductivity. Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) is one of the most direct methods of studying the electronic structure of solids. By measuring the kinetic energy and angular distribution of the electrons photoemitted fro...

Co‐doping Strategy for Developing Perovskite Oxides as Highly Efficient Electrocatalysts for Oxygen Evolution Reaction

A synergistic co-doping strategy is proposed to identify a series of BaCo0.9-x Fe x Sn0.1O3-δ perovskites with tunable electrocatalytic activity for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Simply through tailoring the relative concentrations of less OER-active tin and iron dopants, a cubic perovskite structure (BaCo0.7Fe0.2Sn0.1O3-δ) is stabilized, showing intrinsic OER activity >1 order of magnit...

Activating Nonreducible Oxides via Doping.

Nonreducible oxides are characterized by large band gaps and are therefore unable to exchange electrons or to form bonds with surface species, explaining their chemical inertness. The insertion of aliovalent dopants alters this situation, as new electronic states become available in the gap that may be involved in charge-transfer processes. Consequently, the adsorption and reactivity pattern of...

Calculated Superconducting Gap Dependence on Doping in Single Layered Copper Oxides

We use a total Hamiltonian containing both an electron-phonon induced attractive part of the interaction between electrons, and a Coulomb repulsive part formulated in the Hubbard modelBy diagonalising it in the Bogoliubov and Valatin mean field approximation, we obtain equations for a two valued superconducting gap function, with a much more precise statement about the repulsive cut off energy ...
